It was the Kevin De Bruyne show on Thursday evening as Belgium came from behind to beat Denmark in Copenhagen. Coming on at half-time, Manchester City ace De Bruyne changed the game and posted on Instagram afterwards – earning praise from Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Joe Hart.
Coming into the match, the Denmark crowd were in full voice – as Christian Eriksen watched on from a Copenhagen hospital. Youssef Poulsen got the Danes off to the perfect start in a first half they dominated – lashing home an effort after a mistake from Jason Denayer. But De Bruyne came on.
Injured in the Champions League final, De Bruyne started on the bench but he came on at half-time. He changed the game. Firstly, he created the equaliser with a brilliant feint and pass into Thorgan Hazard. But his winning goal was sensational. De Bruyne posted on Instagram.
What has Hart said about Manchester City star De Bruyne?
De Bruyne smashed home a first time effort with the ball coming across him. It saw Belgium go 2-1 ahead, and although Denmark hit the bar through Martin Braithwaite, they held on to secure their place in the last 16. De Bruyne changed the game for the no.1 ranked nation.
Tottenham goalkeeper and Manchester City icon Hart have commented a two-word verdict on his Instagram – labelling him a “class act”. City starlet Cole Palmer joined Hart in commenting, telling Manchester City skipper De Bruyne he was “so good”.
