Joe Gelhardt reacts to Leeds U23 win on Instagram; Stuart Dallas replies

Stuart Dallas joined a number of Leeds United youngsters in sending messages to Joe Gelhardt after the forward took to Instagram to comment on the under-23s’ latest win at the weekend.

Gelhardt stole many of the headlines as Leeds beat Crystal Palace 4-1 at Thorp Arch. The 18-year-old returned to the number 10 role for the game. And he produced one of his best displays yet for Mark Jackson’s side.

He scored Leeds’s second from the penalty spot. But his third goal was on another level.

Gelhardt collected the ball 10 yards from the penalty area. He then proceeded to dance past a couple of challenges before unleashing a superb strike into the bottom corner.

It was the latest reminder that the £1 million summer signing (fee reported by Leeds Live) looks to be destined for fantastic things at Elland Road.

And that is perhaps why he received so many responses from Leeds players, as well as former teammates following his latest social media post.

Gelhardt simply stated his delight to secure the victory over the Eagles…

Perhaps the most encouraging response came from Dallas. The Northern Irishman is a key man for Marcelo Bielsa’s side. But he is clearly aware of the progress Gelhardt is making with the under-23s.

And perhaps it may not be too long before the pair get the chance to line up alongside each other given how well Gelhardt has taken to life at Leeds.
