Joe Cole shares what he noticed about Gareth Southgate whenever Arsenal ace Bukayo Saka got the ball

Joe Cole has told TalkSPORT (Friday, 9:45AM) has shared what he noticed about Gareth Southgate every time Bukayo Saka got the ball. The Arsenal teenager was voted man of the match as England beat the Czech Republic on Tuesday. Cole was in attendance, and noticed Southgate getting excited.

While it was a Jack Grealish cross that floated over the top of Saka before Sterling nodded home his and England’s second goal of the tournament – Saka certainly sparkled. After a brilliant 2020-21 campaign, he has taken that form to England. He could now start against Germany on Tuesday.

Ex-Chelsea man Cole told TalkSPORT that he sat behind Southgate’s bench at Wembley on Tuesday. He spoke of how everytime Saka got the ball, Southgate and his coaching staff were “buzzing” with excitement. He also said Saka got a “big cuddle” from Southgate when he went off.

“I had a great seat, I was sat just behind the bench, behind Gareth Southgate. Everytime Saka got the ball and made things happen, Southgate was buzzing,” Cole said. “Him and his coaching staff looked really pleased. When Saka came off, he gave him a big cuddle. He seemed really pleased.”

If Every National Team Could Bring Back ONE Legend At Euro 2020

Saka for England: Does Arsenal star start against Germany, after Cole comments?

It could all depend on whether Southgate looks to match Germany by reverting to three at the back. That would see Kyle Walker partner Harry Maguire and John Stones. Reece James and Luke Shaw would play as wing backs, and Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips in the middle of the park.

That only allows for three options up top. Harry Kane starts, of course, and so does Raheem Sterling have scored two goals. So, one position is left. Saka, Jack Grealish, maybe Mason Mount, Phil Foden, Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford could all play there. At TBR, we don’t envy Southgate.

Peter Crouch certainly thinks Saka should start.
