BT Sport pundit and former Chelsea and England midfielder, Joe Cole, was full of praise for Tottenham after they beat Wolves today.
Antonio Conte’s side ran out 1-0 winners at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium thanks to a close-range header from Harry Kane. It puts Spurs top of the table heading into the rest of the weekend’s fixtures.
Of course, the performance wasn’t ideal. Conte will demand much more from his team throughout the season but in the end, Tottenham managed to sneak the win which is all that matters.

And speaking on BT Sport at the full-time whistle today, Joe Cole believes this Tottenham side is showing something under Conte that he hasn’t seen at the club for years.
“Yes they did (deserve the win). They were much improved. We expected a response after the first-half which wasn’t good enough. But one thing I’ve seen in this Tottenham side that I haven’t seen for many many years is resilience.
“They’ve gone to Stamford Bridge to get a point, they’ve not played well, the natives were getting restless and they’ve changed it round in the second half. Got on the front foot and it’s that man Harry Kane, what a player he is.”
TBR’s View: Tottenham Grinding Out Results
Ultimately, that’s how the best teams win trophies and qualify for Europe’s biggest competitions. It’s not always about winning pretty and Tottenham were the epitome of that today.
Kane’s winner was typical of the England striker and he once again proved the difference for his team in what was a tough game.
Naturally, Conte will want to dominate games a bit more. But when the going gets tough and it means scraping three points while not being at your best, Conte will take those wins throughout the season.
