Marcel Lavinier has posted on Instagram after being handed his Tottenham Hotspur debut on Thursday night during a 4-0 second-leg win over Wolfsberger – and plenty have responded to his post, including Jody Morris.

Lavinier, 20, came on to the field of play for the last 20 minutes as Spurs cruised to a 4-0 win on the night – thanks to goals from Dele Alli, Gareth Bale and a brace from Carlos Vinicius. Lavinier was one of a number of young players to get game time.

Lavinier was joined by Nile John in making his debut for Tottenham, while Dane Scarlett also featured – nabbing an assist for Carlos Vinicius’ second effort. It comes just six months after Lavinier swapped Chelsea for Tottenham.

Spurs swooped to land Lavinier from their West London rivals in October despite coming through the academy at Cobham. Instead he has moved to Spurs and clearly the move has paid dividends. Lavinier posted on Instagram after his debut.

Lavinier has been used at right-back mostly, but can also play as a centre-back or in holding midfield. He has two caps for England’s under-17 side but has since been called-up by Portugal’s Under-18 team – where he has citizenship.

Morris worked as Frank Lampard’s assistant at Chelsea while Lavinier was in the Blues’ reserves – and he applauded Lavinier following his debut in the comments. Ex-Chelsea midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah also commented.
