Newcastle United are now the richest football club in the world following their long-awaited takeover.

But at the same time, the Magpies are still battling for Premier League survival.

Nonetheless, Newcastle’s long-term future is positive.

In the coming years, they could well become a football superpower.

Indeed, some top players are already being linked with a potential St James’ Park switch.

Spanish outlet AS has claimed one of the world’s best young footballers is “tempted” by Newcastle.

The player in question is Atletico Madrid attacker Joao Felix.

AS linked the two parties together whilst talking about the “big problem” – as far as La Liga is concerned – that is the Premier League.

Basically, they believe “overfunded” PL clubs will continue to steal La Liga’s best players, or raise the market value of La Liga targets.

They then claim that “Felix is tempted by Newcastle”.

Can Newcastle sign Aguero 2.0?

If the report is true, that would be huge for the Magpies.

Felix is one of those elite players who’d surely be a target for some of the biggest clubs in Europe.

Fans have previously compared him to the likes of Sergio Aguero, Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka.

Admittedly, Felix’s time at Atletico hasn’t been plain sailing – he has suffered a number of injuries.

However, he is a regular La Liga and Champions League player, either in the XI or off the bench.

While Newcastle are certainly a sleeping giant with potential to become a superpower, they’re not there yet.

Therefore, you’d have to wonder whether the £113million gem would be willing to move to a club that’s not challenging for titles or playing in Europe like his current club.
