Joao Cancelo has arrived at Manchester City, and one man ought to be worried

Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo produced a fine performance on Saturday as the club beat Crystal Palace 2-0 at Selhurst Park.

The summer signing from Juventus was making his second Premier League start in a row, but his first in his natural position of right-back.

The ace offered a good attacking outlet for the champions, but was also very strong in the defensive phase and gave Palace talisman Wilfried Zaha very little opportunity to be a threat.

Fans have been keen to see more of the Portugal international after a quiet start to the season, and they may now get their wish such was his high level against the Eagles.

Certainly Kyle Walker should be somewhat concerned about his starting prospects from this point on.

TBR’s view – Walker has a fight on his hands

Walker will need to step up his game significantly with Cancelo obviously a huge talent.

The former Tottenham Hotspur man has been one of the Premier League’s top offensive right-backs for the last few years, but there have been question marks over his ability to defend.

He fought off the challenge of Danilo for the past couple of years, but Cancelo is a level above the Brazilian and his all-round game looks strong.

Cancelo has arrived at the Etihad, and it simply must light a fire under Walker going forwards.
