Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink criticised Leeds United goalkeeper Kiko Casilla following his mistake in the defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

The Yorkshire club suffered a 2-0 away loss at the City Ground in the Championship and it means they only stay second in the table via goal difference.

Marcelo Bielsa’s team have been pegged back by a chasing pack in the division and it seems they face a real tough fight to maintain their position in the top two during the remaining 15 games.

Sammy Ameobi scored in the first-half to give fourth-placed Forest the lead, while Tyler Walker wrapped up three points with a finish into an empty net in stoppage time.

Ex-Leeds striker Hasselbaink was left criticising Casilla for his role in the opening Forest goal and was left shocked that he conceded.

The 33-year-old Spaniard was beaten at his near post by a fierce strike from Ameobi and it’s not the first time his quality has come under question this season.

“If you analyse perfectly where Ameobi hits the ball from it should never be allowed in your goal where it goes in. I’m sorry but it’s poor goalkeeping, it should be an easy save with his right hand,” Hasselbaink said on Sky Sports’ Main Event channel. (7:40pm, 8 February).

TBR’s View:

Casilla was proving in the first half of the season why he’s an ex-Real Madrid goalkeeper and he looked dependable for large parts, but his form has now vanished and he’s a serious issue for Bielsa in net.

The shot-stopper definitely could have done better with Ameobi’s goal and it can be added to the list of saves he should have made in recent fixtures.

There has already been huge rallying from supporters for 19-year-old talent Illan Meslier to replace him as the number one and those voices are only going to be louder after another Casilla blunder.
