Jhon Duran's tweet from late last night now very interesting
Aston Villa have signed Colombian striker Jhon Duran out of nowhere, in a move reminiscent of when they landed Danny Ings.
Villa swooped from nowhere to sign Duran. The 19-year-old will now link up with Unai Emery’s side and look to make a big impression. The big forward has done well in the MLS with Chicago Fire, and will now look to provide Emery with another attacking option.
Interestingly, though, it’s a signing that Villa fans didn’t see coming, even though Duran himself seemed to have dropped a major hint during the night.
Over on Twitter, Duran had posted a wordless tweet which looking back on, suggested he was indeed on the move.
A number of Villa fans have since jumped on the tweet as well, with plenty of fans basically admitting the club have once again made a signing without anyone having a clue.
Of course, the mention of Villa doing similar with Ings is relevant to the Duran deal in more than one way. Ings has been tipped to leave the club this winter, while Duran could be in line to take his place.
Everton are thought to be keen on Ings, who has struggled for his best form since signing.
TBR’s View: Duran already getting the Villa fans onboard
This is a nice little tweet from Duran that clearly bamboozled everyone. He must have known all along on the quiet that he was heading to Villa Park, and so it’s proved.
Duran is an interesting signing from Villa. He’s clearly not going to be coming in as a forward who Emery suddenly banks on scoring 20 goals a season.
But in terms of young forwards with potential, Duran has a lot about him. Other big clubs were thought to be keen, so Villa will see this is a bit of a coup.
