The agent of Jetro Willems has opened the door to a potential return to Newcastle United for his client.
The Dutchman sealed a loan move to St. James’ Park in the summer of 2018 and made a brilliant start to life in the North East.
Willems really caught the eye for the Magpies, combining solid defending with an aptitude for getting forwards and putting in good quality crosses.

But his stint was brought to a premature end when he suffered a serious knee injury against Chelsea in January 2020.
He was ruled out for the rest of the 2019/20 season and he headed back to parent club Eintracht Frankfurt.
The injury effectively scuppered is hopes of securing a permanent move to Newcastle, but Willems’ agent Sigi Lens has insisted his client would be open to returning.
He said (via the Shields Gazette): “Of course, there’s this possibility. Jetro got along very well in England (with Newcastle), and is willing to go back there. They (Eintracht) want to extend the contract. Either we extend the contract – or he leaves this winter.
TBR’s View – Newcastle can improve strength in depth with Willems
Newcastle ended up signing Jamal Lewis in the summer, but that shouldn’t mean a move for Willems should be ruled out completely.

The 22-cap Netherlands interantional was absolutely brilliant before his injury and Newcastle fans loved what he brought to the team and his partnership with Allan Saint-Maximin.
With his contract expiring next summer, a cut-price move next month could well be possible – re-signing Willems would be a good squad boost for Steve Bruce.
