Report: What Jesse Marsch was spotted doing as he walked round Elland Road pitch after Fulham defeat

Jesse Marsch is a man under pressure right now, with Leeds struggling for results in the Premier League.

The American coach managed to keep Leeds in the top flight last season. Since taking over from Marcelo Bielsa, Marsch has had a bumpy ride. Some big moments have been followed by major lows, one of which was the 3-2 home defeat to Fulham last weekend.

Things don’t get any easier for Leeds either. They travel to Liverpool this weekend. And while Liverpool haven’t been at their best this season, Jesse Marsch would have picked an easier game to get back on track.

Marsch is said to be safe for now. However, the pressure is building and according to The Athletic, Marsch looked a lonely figure after the loss to Fulham.

The Athletic writes how while walking around the Elland Road pitch, Marsch was having words with himself. Described as looked ‘vexed’, it’s reported how Marsch seemed to be voicing frustrations to himself as he made his way around.

Of course, management can be a lonely place in football. We reported last week how Marsch went to clap the Leeds fans before being met with a mixed response. He then booted a ball in frustration, which explains the reports today.

TBR’s View: Liverpool to inflict more misery on Leeds and Marsch

This is the nightmare game really for Leeds and Jesse Marsch. Liverpool seem to be finding a little bit of form and coming off the back of a 3-0 win at Ajax, they’ll be in good spirits.

Leeds’ style also suits Liverpool. Marsch lets his team go for it and that leaves spaces in behind which Liverpool simply love to exploit.

Essentially, while Marsch will be doing all he can to get a result at Liverpool, this won’t be a game that defines him or his team. They do need a win, but nobody will be expecting it tomorrow. In a weird way, that lack of pressure might actually favour the Whites.
