Leeds United manager, Jesse Marsch, has been speaking about Mikel Arteta ahead of this weekend’s Arsenal clash.

Marsch, like Arteta, is seen as one of the more intriguing managers in the Premier League. The American has his own ways of doing things and is passionate about making a mark at Leeds. Indeed, since taking over from Marcelo Bielsa, Marsch has impressed in the main.

Of course, his counterpart Arteta has had an up and down time in charge of Arsenal. As of now, he is riding as high as he’s ever been, with the Gunners top of the table. And Marsch, speaking about Arteta just now, believes the Gunners boss is under-appreciated.

“Mikel Arteta has done an absolutely amazing job. I think he’s the most underrated manager in the league. With a young team, he’s built this up to be really complex, stable, exciting to watch. I think he’s done an amazing job. It’s taken him time, he took a lot of heat in the beginning. But I think now you see the fruits of his labour and the fruits of their labour,” Marsch told Leeds Live.

Marsch will certainly be hoping his Leeds side can keep Arsenal at bay this weekend. However, doing so in practice will be much harder than the theory.

TBR’s View: Arteta Getting Respect Now

Arteta is an example of a manager being given time and trust and then reaping the rewards. His Arsenal team look excellent this year and they are well in the title mix.

For the Spanish coach, this last six months have been a huge turning point for him. Backed by the board with over £200m and with the buy in of his players, he’s now getting his points across.

Marsch’s comments here are a nice touch, albeit he won’t be so friendly come the weekend one can imagine!
