Liverpool have a number of players who could be described as underrated.

Indeed, while Mohamed Salah is in Ballon d’Or winning form, Salah is still seen as underrated by some.

Meanwhile, Cody Gakpo recently said Curtis Jones is the most underrated player at Liverpool.

Liverpool are top of the Premier League and they sailed through the Champions League group phase, but, despite being arguably the best team in the world right now, some of the Reds’ players are still underrated.

Speaking to Goal, former Leeds United manager, Jesse Marsch has been asked to name a player he believes is very underrated, and he named another Liverpool player when answering this question.

Jesse Marsch says Alexis Mac Allister is very underrated

Marsch was asked to name a player he believes is very underrated.

The pundit had the pick of any player in world football.

There are some brilliant players within the game who are seen as underrated. Ian Wright recently called Bukayo Saka underrated, while James Maddison said similar about Cristian Romero.

However, according to Marsch, Alexis Mac Allister is perhaps the most underrated player in world football right now.

Mac Allister has been described as underrated in the past too, and it’s fair to say he’s a top player.

Interestingly, Mac Allister wasn’t the only Liverpool player Marsch commented on.

What Jesse Marsch said about Dominik Szoboszlai

Marsch also made an interesting claim about Liverpool’s Domonik Szoboszlai.

Marsch and Szoboszlai worked together during their time at RB Salzburg.

Accordig to Marsch, Szoboszlai is the one player in world football currently playing who he’d like to see go into coaching.

“Who is one current player you wish could coach?” Marsch was asked.

“Szoboszlai,” Marsch said.

That’s certainly an interesting claim to make about Szoboszlai.

Szoboszlai is only 24 years old, but he would appear to have a very mature head on young shoulders if Marsch thinks he has what it takes to become a coach one day.

Of course, the midfielder is a decade or more away from making a decision on his post-playing career, but it may be worth keeping an eye on the Hungarian once he hangs up his boots as a potential managerial star too.

Liverpool players often do go on to make great managers – just look at Xabi Alonso for example, and perhaps Szoboszlai could be the next man up in that regard.
