Jerzy Dudek reacts to Hugo Ekitike signing

Dudek spoke about Liverpool’s newest attacking addition.

The former goalkeeper says that Ekitike is the type of player who can give the Reds numerous options, stating that he is a hard worker with a good eye for a pass too.

“That’s great news. I think we needed another striker, he can give many options. He’s not a killer like Lewandowski, he can even play a little bit deeper,’ Dudek said.

“He works for the team, he can pass the ball to another player if he’s in a better position to score the goal. I think he’s a really good signing for Liverpool and let’s hope he can enjoy the end of the season with winning trophies.”

Hugo Ekitike stats last season

Dudek notes that Ekitike is a player who works hard and has an eye for a pass, and he’s not wrong.

Indeed, last season, Ekitike had a great mix of both goals and assists, while his underlying stats in terms of creativity were solid too.

Mohamed Salah remains Liverpool’s goalscorer-in-chief, so bringing in a more creative number nine is something that makes a lot of sense.

Roberto Firmino became an Anfield legend playing in a similar role, and perhaps Ekitike could be a Firmino-esque addition to this squad.

Ekitike could be a very important addition to this Liverpool team, and he could become a real star at Anfield next season.
