Liverpool suffered a sixth consecutive Premier League defeat at Anfield on Sunday afternoon as relegation candidates Fulham produced a sparkling performance to win 1-0 – leaving Jurgen Klopp’s side in a lowly eighth.
Klopp’s struggling side came into the match having lost five of their last seven games in all competitions – and that turned into six from eight, as Mario Lemina capitalised on Mo Salah’s mistake to score the only goal of the game.
The Reds have now played 28 league games, more than seventh-placed West Ham and ninth-placed Aston Villa who have only played 26 so far. They are four points off the top four, with fourth-placed Chelsea only playing 27 times.
It is a horrendous season that has seen Liverpool’s mentality slip, confidence drop and injuries continue to affect performance – with Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and plenty more on the sidelines through injury.
The Reds can put league football to the side for a moment this week as they take on RB Leipzig in the second leg of their last 16 Champions League tie, boasting a 2-0 first-leg lead which gives them a big chance of progressing.
Liverpool legends Jerzy Dudek and Sami Hyypia both reacted on their Instagram stories after watching Liverpool lose yet again – their ninth defeat in their last 15 league and cup outings.
