Jermaine Pennant has told TalkSPORT (Thursday, 08:10am) that Leeds United are going to gain promotion from the Championship this season, claiming Marcelo Bielsa has everything under control.
Leeds need just four points from their next three league games to gain promotion and end a 16-year wait for Premier League football – following their relegation and administration in 2004.
They take on Barnsley on Thursday night at Elland Road, with the Whites firm favourites to secure all three points and the chance to go six points clear of third-placed Brentford – with just two league games to play.
Former Leeds man Pennant, who played for the Whites in their final season in the Premier League, has stated it is a certainty that the Whites will be promoted – claiming the players are calm and that Bielsa is in control.
TBR’s view – Fixtures shine nicely on Leeds
A home clash against Barnsley should see Leeds pick up three points. Barnsley are struggling down the bottom of the division, while the Whites beat the Tykes 2-0 at Oakwell earlier in the season.
A win would see Leeds require just a point – even if results do not go their way. That would give the Whites the chance to gain promotion at Derby County, fitting given Derby were the club to beat Leeds in the play-offs last term.
The Whites are surely up, even if they fail to pick up four points.
