Alexander Isak and Harry Kane are seen as two of the best out-and-out strikers in world football today, and Jermaine Pennant has weighed in on the debate of which one is better.
Kane is an established name in the Bayern Munich squad at this point, and has already found the back of the net six times for the German side this season.
Meanwhile, at the international level, the former Tottenham Hotspur striker is the captain of England and the all-time leading scorer for the Three Lions with 74 goals.
On the other hand, Isak joined Liverpool during the summer for a British transfer record fee of £125million, ending his spell at Newcastle United.
The Sweden international scored 62 goals in 109 games for the Magpies, and is now poised to start his career for the Reds this weekend against Burnley.

Jermaine Pennant believes Liverpool’s Alexander Isak is the best number nine in the world
Every fan and pundit has their own personal opinion as to who the best striker in the world is, as this is one of the most important and talked-about positions on a football pitch.
However, when he spoke about the topic on talkSPORT, Pennant backed Liverpool’s new number nine as the top star in the game today.
“Just because Harry Kane has been, over the years, in the Premier League, his numbers have been fantastic, Golden Boots galore.
“But Harry Kane now, right at this minute, is not a better player than Alexander Isak. He’s not better than [Erling] Haaland either.
“Isak is the best number nine at the moment in the world. When he’s fit, give him some time.”
Alexander Isak will have to prove himself at Liverpool
While Pennant has backed Isak as the world’s number one striker, the new Liverpool forward must prove himself to the Anfield faithful.
Not only has he joined the club at a hefty transfer fee, but Hugo Ekitike has started his Liverpool career positively, which will put plenty of pressure on Isak from the start.
Isak hasn’t had a proper pre-season due to his controversial decision not to train or play for Newcastle during the summer in a bid to force this transfer through, which means he’ll be playing catch-up from a fitness perspective.
Isak only played 18 minutes during Sweden’s game against Kosovo, and former Arsenal star Freddie Ljungberg believes that was Liverpool’s choice, creating a theory that he was only allowed 20 minutes.
Whether that benefits Isak as part of his journey to getting fully match fit will remain to be seen, but there is an expectation that Arne Slot will debut him this weekend.
