‘A shocker’: Jermaine Jenas blasts Tottenham player for 9th minute moment against Wolves today

Tottenham have put in a laboured first half performance against Wolves in the Premier League’s early kick off today.

Antonio Conte’s men haven’t quite got going against Bruno Lage’s resilient looking Wolves side and it’s all set up to be a tight second period and a game that could go either way.

Chances have been at a premium for both sides really. Harry Kane hasn’t got into the game, while both Son and Kulusevski have struggled out wide. For Wolves, Neto and Podence have had sniffs of chances, but nothing of note.

Most chances, then, could end up coming from set-pieces. But those set-pieces will need to be much better than the one Heung-Min Son took in the 9th minute for Tottenham. The South Korean star swung a ball straight into the side netting when well-placed to deliver. And speaking about the incident on BT Sport comms, Jermaine Jenas admitted he was shocked that Ivan Perisic hadn’t taken the kick.

“I’m actually surprised Son’s taken it. When Perisic came on at Chelsea he took one corner with his left foot and one with his right. It’s a bit of a shocker from Son, to be honest,” Jenas said of Son’s effort.

TBR’s View: Wolves Stifling Tottenham

The free-kick from Son was just the epitome of a really poor first half from Tottenham on the whole really.

Conte’s side haven’t got going at all and if anything, Wolves look the most likely to nick a goal with their speed on the break at times.

For Son, it simply needs to be better. Jenas was right to label the effort a shocker and it about sums up how poor both Son and Spurs have been throughout the opening 45 minutes.
