Jermaine Jenas shocked by just how slow £21m Man United player looked tonight

Jermaine Jenas has been speaking about Sofyan Amrabat during tonight’s FA Cup clash between Manchester United and Nottingham Forest.

The 41-year-old made the comments when chatting to Gary Lineker and Wayne Rooney on BBC One.

So, what did Jermaine Jenas say about Manchester United No.4 Sofyan Amrabat? Let’s take a look…

Jermaine Jenas shocked by Sofyan Amrabat

Well, the BBC pundit could not believe how slow the Morocco international looked at the City Ground tonight.

Jenas said: “I was surprised it wasn’t Elanga running at Amrabat because I think Amrabat has struggled at times in that first half. You can see Origi shows him a clean pair of heels which surprised me to be honest with you, but time after time they have had chances down the right hand side.”

The 27-year-old certainly struggled to deal with the pace of Anthony Elanga and Divock Origi tonight.

Manchester United found it difficult to control the FA Cup fifth round clash – partly due to Amrabat’s lack of recovery pace – and it was not the first time the Moroccan has endured a tough time this season.

Tim Sherwood named the man from Huizen as Manchester United’s worst player in the 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth at Old Trafford earlier this season.

Paul Merson was also shocked to see Erik ten Hag start Amrabat in the UEFA Champions League clash against Galatasaray back in November – calling for Kobbie Mainoo to play instead.

Manchester United not planning to keep Sofyan Amrabat

Manchester United signed Amrabat on loan from Fiorentina back in September for a fee of £8.5m – a hefty sum for just 12 months of ownership.

The Red Devils also negotiated a £21.4m option to buy the midfielder on a permanent basis.

However – according to Dean Jones – Manchester United will not be signing Amrabat permanently.

The respected journalist told Give Me Sport: “Manchester United must be very relieved they do not have an obligation to buy Amrabat because the move has just not worked out at all, and they will cut ties on this one without any regrets.

“His chances of earning a permanent deal are pretty much zero.”

In truth, Amrabat cannot really complain – he simply has not delivered this season.
