Jermaine Jenas has told Match of the Day that Kieran Tierney’s display represented the one positive he could take from Arsenal’s defeat to Everton on Saturday.
Mikel Arteta remains under increasing pressure after another disappointing result. The Gunners were beaten 2-1 at Goodison Park. The result leaves the side just four points above the relegation zone.

It seemed to be another lacklustre display from Arsenal. They failed to register a single shot on target during the second-half as they chased an equaliser.
And following the game, Jenas suggested that Tierney was the only player who can feel hard done by to find himself in this current situation in the Premier League table.
“I think it’s unfair that he gets dragged down with what is going on around him,” he told Match of the Day.

“What I like most about him is he does his job. He’s a left-back and you’re asking him to just do his job. I think that’s the big problem with Arsenal. There’s not enough players just doing their job. Lot of people hiding, lot of people passing the buck.
“There’s not enough people on the pitch doing what Kieran Tierney, in my opinion, has been doing for Arsenal for a good few weeks now. Good quality, good deliveries into the box. He’s the one taking responsibility and making things happen.”
TBR View: Tierney often a shining light for Arsenal
A lot of Arsenal’s transfer business in recent years has come in for criticism lately. But one signing that has definitely been a positive for the club was the £25 million deal to sign Tierney (fee reported by Sky Sports).
The left-back often seems to win plaudits for his displays – even when the Gunners’ results have been poor. At the very least, his work-rate can rarely be questioned.
From the outside, it seems that circumstances are starting to push the Scotland international into a leadership role at the Emirates. He is certainly often the one leading by example on the pitch.
