Jermaine Jenas is really impressed with the way that Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has been performing recently, as he’s managed to force his way back into favour.
The 23-year-old was massively struggling for game-time last season under manager Jose Mourinho, but has done enough in training and on the pitch to make him complete a U-turn on him.
Ndombele is still trying to get up to full fitness and to his very best, but he’s featured in six of the club’s seven games so far this season and is no longer being frozen out.
The French powerhouse is an all-action central midfielder that can give Spurs some real quality driving forward and he’s a creative threat, but he’s shown some strong defensive work recently too and that’s something that Mourinho surely would have demanded from him.
Jenas included Ndombele in a combined XI he made between Spurs and Manchester United players, mentioning his improvement this season.
“He’s been playing really well, he looks like a different player. If he’s at the standard that I’ve seen him previously when he was at Lyon and that he’s started the season with then he’s 100 per cent in that midfield [for a combined XI],” Jenas told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport.

TBR’s View:
Ndombele cost Spurs £53.8million (BBC) to sign from Lyon last summer, which is why there was huge pressure on him to deliver from day one and his debut year in English football didn’t go the way that many predicted.
But he’s shown a brilliant attitude to adapt his game and win over his manager, plus it’s easy to overlook the fact he’s only aged 23 and is trying to adjust in a new division.
Spurs finish with a trip to Manchester United this weekend in the league before the international break and it’ll be a big vote of confidence if Ndombele is picked in the XI.
