Jermaine Beckford has stressed that there is so much more to come from Rodrigo in a Leeds United shirt and believes he was a great addition to the squad in the summer.

The Yorkshire giants signed the forward in the summer from La Liga club Valencia and he moved to Elland Road with a big expectation, as he’s a regular in the Spain national side.

Rodrigo scored his first Leeds goal before the international break in the 1-1 draw with Manchester City and he’s beginning to fit nicely into Marcelo Bielsa’s system.

The left-footed attacker has mainly been used in a number 10 creative role just behind frontman Patrick Bamford and he’s still trying to work his way into the starting XI on a permanent basis.

Beckford has explained that he’s liked what he’s seen from him so far this campaign and has high hopes moving forward.

“I think he’s actually more comfortable playing in the 10 just behind Patrick Bamford because he’s got a lot more freedom,” Beckford said.

“He’s a tidy player and a player that can find a good pass, as you mentioned about the work-rate how hard he works. I think he’s been a brilliant acquisition, but I also think there is so, so, so much more to come from him. I really do.”

Rodrigo looked a perfect Leeds target in the summer, as he’s an attacker that plays with a high intensity with his pressing and he also adds some top level experience to the squad following their promotion from the Championship last season.

After a bedding-in period at the Yorkshire club, it’ll be a surprise if he isn’t quickly starting every game for them and there is definitely a role of him behind Bamford.

Tyler Roberts is still trying to find consistency in his game in that number 10 role and Rodrigo deserves his chance to start in the next game at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
