Arsenal romped to an impressive victory against Leeds United this evening as Gabriel Martinell continued his fine form with a double strike at Elland Road.

The young Brazilian has been making the most of his chance in recent weeks and he took his chances well tonight to ensure that Leeds were more or less finished off by half-time. After seasons of being frustrated with injury, Martinelli is definitely taking his chance and impressing.

Interestingly, he’s even catching the eye of former Leeds striker and Sky Sports pundit for the night, Jermaine Beckford.

Beckford, who scored more than 80 goals for the Whites, admitted that while he didn’t enjoy Martinelli tearing Leeds apart tonight, he does enjoy watching his ‘explosive’ style in general.

“He’s very exciting. In terms of his positional sense too. He drifts in really well and times his runs perfectly. His finishing is excellent and he’s so, so quick. He’s explosive,” Beckford said live on Sky.

Martinelli’s performances will be pleasing for Mikel Arteta. Even more so, Arteta was able to bring Emile Smith Rowe off the bench and he scored once again as well. Certainly, things are picking up for the Gunners.

TBR’s View: Martinelli Getting Better And Better With Arsenal

Sometimes a player just needs a chance in the first-team and Gabriel Martinelli is certainly seizing his big moment in the Gunners squad.

His goals are vital, and his work-rate off the ball and intelligence as Beckford mentions is so impressive. For someone so young, he is definitely proving something of a new signing for the Gunners.

Martinelli will be delighted with his own form as well. And rightfully so. If the South American can continue as he is at the moment, then Arsenal will very much be in with a shout of the top four come May.
