Jermaine Beckford has shared that he’s a big fan of Leeds United defender Ben White, who has had quite the impact since he joined in the summer.
The 21-year-old colossus moved to Elland Road on a season-long loan from Brighton and had the daunting task of trying to fill the void left by Pontus Jansson.
But the young English centre-back has slotted into the backline so comfortably and has formed a great understanding next to captain Liam Cooper.
White looks to be a top quality prospect that is thriving in the Championship and will play a key role in a promotion bid for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
He’s a defender that looks so confident on the pitch in all situation, regardless of whether he’s in a tight defensive situation or playing out from the back.
His passing range has already caught the eye and is a key feature of his game, while he’s slowly becoming a fans’ favourite too.
Ex-Leeds striker Beckford has been impressed by White’s start to the season.
“He looks clever, I like him,” Beckford told Football League World.
“He’s very composed and you know exactly what you’re going to get from him.
“He fills you with confidence. If he’s in a one-on-one situation, you aren’t panicking or thinking ‘he’s definitely getting past him’. There are not many players that are getting past him, and if they do, it isn’t going to be an easy ride. I like him.”
White deserves praise for the impact he’s had on the Leeds defence and it’s easy to forget that he’s only just a young player.
His form will surely make parent club Brighton want to keep him in their plans for the long-term, so the Elland Road faithful need to enjoy him while they can.
The Yorkshire giants have the best defensive record in the league so far with just three goals conceded in six games and at the heart of that has success has been their loanee.
