Jermaine Beckford admitted on Twitter that he was left amazed by Leeds United supporters after they managed to get ‘#FreeBenWhite’ trending over the weekend.
The saga surrounding the centre-back took a significant twist on Saturday. Sky Sports reported that Leeds had had two bids for the defender rejected by Brighton.

The larger of the two offers was reportedly worth £22 million. But, while the Seagulls remain in a strong position, Sky Sports also noted that White has rejected two contracts from his current side.
It is not clear why White snubbed the offers from Brighton. But plenty of Leeds fans clearly feel that it was a sign that the 22-year-old is keen to return to Elland Road after his stunning loan spell last season.

And that led to some of the Leeds supporters to use the hashtag #FreeBenWhite. As noted by the Yorkshire Evening Post, the message was trending in the UK on Sunday.
And the hashtag did not escape the attention of former Whites striker Beckford.
He himself took to social media to laud the fans for getting the message trending on Saturday. He was particularly impressed that they had managed it while there was Champions League football on.
Here is Beckford’s reaction to the #FreeBenWhite message…
