Jermain Defoe has shared which Tottenham Hotspur player he would happily pay money to watch, insisting that he is always likely to do something in games.
It has certainly not been boring at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season. Ange Postecoglou has captured the imagination with his brand of football. And Spurs are very much in the conversation for a top four spot in the Premier League.
Their achievement is all the more remarkable given that they lost one of their greatest ever players on the eve of the season. But many have stepped up since Harry Kane’s departure.
Jermain Defoe lauds James Maddison
And perhaps no player has been more impressive in a Tottenham shirt than James Maddison. Maddison was arguably the best player in the Premier League before he sustained an injury in early November.

The 27-year-old appears to still be working his way back towards full sharpness. But speaking on Football Firsts, Jermain Defoe insisted that he is such a big fan of the attacking midfielder.
“Maddison, like when I watch Madders play, like you said, you would pay money to watch these players because you know they’ll always do things in the game that make you go ooh. Yeah, I like that,” he said.
Tottenham now need talisman to step up
Maddison is one of those players who always gives your team a chance. He has the potential to make things happen out of nowhere. And he is someone who is always showing for the ball when his side need a moment of magic.
There is absolutely no question that he has been an outstanding signing for Tottenham since joining from Leicester City in the summer.
He has been directly involved in 10 goals in 15 Premier League games. And you would imagine that he is only going to add to that tally as the campaign continues, particularly now that Tottenham have Heung-min Son back from international duty.
Spurs have been underwhelming in recent weeks. So they need their star players to step up and help rediscover the form they showed at the start of the season.
Maddison is definitely one of those who will relish the challenge.
