Tottenham lost to Bournemouth on Thursday evening to continue what has been an incredibly inconsistent start to this season.
Spurs have been incredibly up and down this term, and that continued in midweek as they lost 1-0 away at the Vitality Stadium.
Just two weeks on from winning 4-0 at the Etihad against Manchester City, Tottenham have dropped points against both Fulham and Bournemouth.
Simply put, Spurs’ performance against Bournemouth wasn’t good enough, but speaking on Amazon, Jermain Defoe has found room to praise Spurs player.
Indeed, Defoe says that Heung-Min Son actually looked sharp when he came off the bench for Tottenham on Thursday.

Heung-Min Son looked sharp vs Bournemouth
Defoe was far from impressed by Spurs’ performance on the night.
However, he did say that Son looked good when he came off the bench, claiming that he added a new spark to the Tottenham attack.
Remarkably, Son was linked to Manchester United this week.
“Even with Sonny, when he came on I thought he looked sharp. I thought he looked bright and sometimes you know it’s a case of sometimes as a player you need to reset. I thought when he came on he looked really sharp,” Defoe said.
Heung-Min Son stats against Bournemouth
Heung-Min Son may have only been on the pitch for 25 minutes against Bournemouth, but he was one of Spurs’ brightest attackers.
The £22m man wasn’t outstanding by any stretch of the imagination, but, unlike some of his teammates, he was actively trying to make things happen.
Son’s stat sheet on the night shows how positive he was trying to be.
| Heung-Min Son stats vs Bournemouth | |
| Shots | 1 |
| Dribbles | 1 |
| Key passes | 1 |
| Through balls | 1 |
| Offsides | 2 |
Of course, these numbers aren’t incredible, but for a 25 minute cameo, they show how Son tried to change the game.
Of course, being caught offside twice isn’t ideal, but it shows that Son was making dangerous runs and at least trying to get in behind, while he was also trying to create with his passing.
At his best, Son is a world class player, but when Tottenham produce a below-par performance as a team, there’s only so much the South Korean can do on his own.
Spurs face Chelsea this weekend, and, based on this performance, they won’t fancy their chances of winning that game.
