Jeremie Frimpong has played against Arsenal just once in his career, but that number will go up now that he has joined Liverpool.
The Dutchman’s only ever appearance against the Gunners came in a pre-season friendly in 2024.
Arsenal played Bayer Leverkusen in the Emirates Cup, and Mikel Arteta’s side beat the German giants 4-1 thanks to goals from Oleksandr Zinchenko, Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz.
Many Arsenal stars played in that game, but Jeremie Frimpong appears to be a big fan of someone who wasn’t involved in that fixture.
Jeremie Frimpong stunned by Arsenal star Jurrien Timber’s strength
Jurrien Timber and Jeremie Frimpong have played together for the Netherlands national team.
The two Dutch stars are both naturally right-sided defenders, but Frimpong is capable of playing as a winger as well when required.
That could be the reason why the new Liverpool signing and Timber may have gone head-to-head in training before, and it looks like there was only one winner when that happened.
Frimpong played a game on ESPN, where he was asked to describe his Dutch international teammates using just one word.
He did that for all the players put in front of him, but when Timber’s name came up, he said a lot more than just a word.
Frimpong replied: “Rock! Rock solid!
“This guy, you can’t move him, bro. Nah, he’s too strong, bro!”
Jurrien Timber wrongly missed out on an award at Arsenal
Timber was one of Arsenal’s best players in the 2024/25 season.
The Dutchman was forced to play almost every game because Ben White was out injured, and he did so incredibly well.
What made Timber’s consistent displays with barely any break even more impressive was the fact that he returned from a very serious knee injury just a few months prior.
We think Timber deserved to be named as Arsenal’s Player of the Season for 2024/25, but Declan Rice, who had a brilliant campaign himself, won that accolade.
What was surprising was that Timber didn’t even come second or third – Bukayo Saka and David Raya took those places.
That, in our opinion, is a bit unfair.
