Jeremie Frimpong, Mikael Lustig and others react as Odsonne Edouard leaves Celtic for Crystal Palace
Odsonne Edouard has completed a move to Crystal Palace from Celtic and plenty have reacted – including Mikael Lustig and Jeremie Frimpong.
Edouard, 23, ends his Celtic spell with stats of 176 matches – scoring 86 goals and laying on 39 assists. A brilliant record for a striker so young.
The France Under-21 ace had entered the final 12 months of his contract at Celtic – after four years at the club. Celtic had to sell to bring in some cash.
It is widely reported that Celtic have received a fee of around £14million (Standard). There is expected to be further add-ons included in the deal.
Edouard has posted on Instagram following his move from Celtic to Palace. A touching message to Celtic, before excitement at joining the London side.
Edouard to Palace: Frimpong, Lustig, Ajer and more respond
Palace needed a striker. Christian Benteke has struggled during his time at Palace, while Michy Batshuayi’s loan last season failed to turn permanent.
The Eagles have been excellent in the transfer window. Conor Gallagher, Marc Guehi, Joachim Andersen and Michael Olise are top additions.
So, adding another young striker with plenty of experience and goals into that mix is brilliant business. Edouard at £14million is a real bargain.
Celtic have immediately replaced Edouard, bringing in three deadline-day signings in Filipe Jota, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Giorgos Giakoumakis.
Plenty responded to Edouard’s two posts – including Frimpong, Lustig, Kris Ajer, Karamoko Dembele and plenty of others.
