Jeremie Frimpong is reportedly close to completing an £11.5million move to German side Bayer Leverkusen from Scottish champions Celtic – and he has seemingly left an intriguing ‘leaving statement’ on Rising Ballers’ Instagram page.
Frimpong, 20, joined Celtic in the summer of 2019 from Manchester City for a nominal fee – believed to be in the region of £350,000. He has since clocked up 51 appearances for the Hoops, 30 of which have already come this season.
Leverkusen, meanwhile, are planning for the future and The Scottish Sun claim they have agreed an £11.5million fee with Leverkusen for Frimpong. Neil Lennon confirmed the Dutch youth international was in Germany discussing a move.
Now, Frimpong has apparently left a “leaving statement” on ‘Rising Ballers’ Instagram. A somewhat cryptic message, suggesting that his demands have not been met: “I dreamed the dream but my demands haven’t been met, you’ll see what I mean.”
TBR’s view – Frimpong certainly not playing like an £11.5m player
He did so initially, but his recent form has coincided with Celtic as a whole. Yes he is young with enormous potential but Celtic have pulled off a good bit of business to bring in an eight-figure fee for the ex-Man City man.
That figure gives Celtic the chance to bring in a replacement and have cash left over to sign one or two others in different positions. Do they do that this month? There are five days left to go in the January window, so time will tell.
