Jeremie Boga might finally be the perfect alternative for Everton’s failed Wilfried Zaha pursuit

Everton are reportedly interested in a move for Sassuolo attacker Jeremie Boga. It is reported by Goal that Everton, along with the likes of Brighton and Inter, are joining Napoli in the pursuit of the Ivorian international. Considering that Everton’s new boss Carlo Ancelotti was previously at Napoli, this interest should not come as a surprise.

Boga, a former Chelsea youth-team player and Birmingham City loanee, has been in fine form since heading to Serie A last summer.

Everton are clearly in need of an extra spark in attack and with the report suggesting a £17 million price-tag, Boga could be a bargain buy.

Especially when you consider his dribbling stats this term.

As reported by Goal on Twitter at the end of 2019, Boga is in the top five when it comes to most dribbles completed in Europe’s top five league’s. Boga is fourth on 66, with only Lionel Messi, Adama Traore and top-placed Wilfried Zaha (83) ahead of him.

Everton, of course, wanted Wilfried Zaha in the summer. Boga’s countryman was the subject of £65 million interest from the Toffees, as reported by The Independent.

In the end, Everton gave up and went for Alex Iwobi from Arsenal instead. His name does not appear anywhere on the top dribble list.

Perhaps Boga could be the alternative to Zaha that Everton were actually looking for.
