Jermaine Jenas believes Borussia Dortmund should seek to target Serge Aurier during tonight’s Champions League clash.
Spurs are in Germany ahead of the second leg of the tie, which they lead 3-0 after their excellent result at Wembley two weeks ago.
The north Londoners are in an solid position to reach the quarter-finals, but a professional display is required at Westfalenstadion to see the job through.
Kieran Trippier has not travelled with the squad, meaning Aurier is the man who will likely get the nod once again against the Bundesliga leaders.
But BT pundit Jenas is somewhat wary of Mauricio Pochettino putting his faith in the Ivorian.
‘He can go wandering’
Speaking to football.london, Jenas said: “I actually think Serge did quite well against Dortmund. Obviously Jan [Vertonghen] was brilliant that night and massively outshone him.
“I think Serge at times can open them up a little bit defensively because he kind of goes wandering, he’s always playing a little bit too high which exposes the right-sided centre-half or the right centre-half of the three.
“There’s no doubt that it’s an area they should try to exploit but their best player is on the other side unless Reus plays.”
The former Paris Saint-Germain defender admittedly did play quite well in the first leg, especially having picked up an early booking.
With Tottenham 3-0 up, there will be little need for Aurier to go venturing forward. It’ll be his job to just keep Christian Pulisic or Raphael Guerrero quiet.
