Arsenal are gearing up for another big season in which they will hope to finally become champions for the first time since 2004.

Mikel Arteta has transformed the Gunners since taking the reins five years ago and will be eager to keep building on his good work.

Arsenal were a team struggling to even reach top four when he took the job, but they are now regularly fighting for the Premier League title.

Recruitment and retention have been key for the Gunners, who have been signing great players both in terms of talent and character.

Now, Jeff Stelling has claimed that one of the players who joined Arsenal under Arteta’s watch is as exciting to watch as prime Eden Hazard.

Jeff Stelling hails ‘wonderful’ Arsenal star Martin Odegaard

The player in question is Martin Odegaard, who has been fulfilling his potential since joining the Gunners from Real Madrid.

Odegaard moved to Arsenal from the Bernabeu in 2021 and has become a key player for the Gunners, as well as becoming captain.

The 25-year-old has made 153 appearances for Arsenal, registering 35 goals and 25 assists.

And with his contract running until 2028, many more outings and goal contributions are on the cards.

“I mean, he has had a couple of absolutely wonderful seasons,” Stelling said of the Gunners skipper on talkSPORT.

“One of those players that you would pay, I know most people do, but we were paid to go and see.

“You know, one of the first for me since Eden Hazard down at Chelsea, you absolutely loved watching.”

Odegaard exceeding his potential at Arsenal

Odegaard has come a long way since joining Arsenal in 2021. He is not only living up to the potential he showed as a youngster, but exceeding it.

Things didn’t quite go to plan for him at Real Madrid, and for a while there were some real concerns that he would fall by the wayside and become another ‘what if’ kind of player.

This all changed after Odegaard joined Arsenal, initially on loan and then permanently for £30million. The rest is history, and hopefully he can go on to make history with the Gunners.
