Jed Steer has been recalled from his loan spell at Charlton Athletic after an injury to Orjan Nyland. The Norwegian international suffered an Achilles tendon rupture and will be out for the rest of the season.
Whilst Aston Villa have signed Croatian international Lovre Kalinic he is not yet eligible to play so Aston Villa recalled Steer to face off against QPR this afternoon.
For the stopper, it is probably his last chance to show Aston Villa what he has got. Many an Aston Villa fan was disappointed with Steve Bruce’s decision to loan out Steer in the summer.

He is a very good defender and, based on the displays of Nyland this season and Steer’s at Charlton, it was probably an error to let him go.
Whilst Kalinic is likely to become the first-choice, it does speak volumes that Dean Smith decided to recall Steer rather than just hand the gloves to Mark Bunn this afternoon.
Steer is out of contract at the end of the season and, with a loan deal in place with the Addicks, it seemed his Aston Villa career was over.
However, impress Smith and he might be handed a reprieve at Villa Park.
