Jean-Kevin Augustin sends Twitter message in response to Leeds announcement

Leeds United striker Jean-Kevin Augustin has paid tribute to the club’s decision to rename the South Stand at Elland Road in honour of Whites legend Norman Hunter.

The tough-tackling centre-half and defensive midfielder, who played upwards of 700 games for Leeds, passed away last week aged 76.

Hunter was part of the most successful chapter in Leeds’ history, registering 726 appearances over 14 years with the Whites and winning three First Division titles, two Inter-Cities Fairs Cups, an FA Cup and a League Cup.

After being scouted by Leeds whilst playing for Birtley Juniors, he made his Whites debut in 1962 and, after leaving Elland Road in 1976, he subsequently played for Bristol City and Barnsley, before managing the Tykes and Rotherham.

Hunter will now become immortalised at Elland Road, along with Don Revie and John Charles who also have stands named in their honour, along with Billy Bremner, whose statue stands outside the ground.
