New Leeds United signing Jean-Kevin Augustin has posted a picture of himself in training at Thorp Arch, just a day before the Whites take on Wigan Athletic at Elland Road – a game Augustin could feature in.
Augustin, 22, joined Leeds on a loan-to-buy deal from German Bundesliga side RedBull Leipzig earlier this month as the Whites replaced the loss of Eddie Nketiah. He watched on from the stands on Tuesday night as Leeds beat Millwall 3-2.
Patrick Bamford scored a brace for Marcelo Bielsa’s side during the win and that is likely to see the ex-Chelsea striker start up front. France Under-21 international is likely to take his place on the bench come Saturday afternoon at 3pm.
With the Leeds side in training on Friday at Thorp Arch, Augustin posted a picture from the session on his Instagram as he looks to showcase his reasons for a debut start against a Wigan side who beat Sheffield Wednesday in the week.
TBR’s view – Should Augustin start against Wigan on Saturday?
Bielsa’s system is a difficult one to get used to. Yes, the Argentine massively improves players, but his system is so intricate and in order for Augustin to start ahead of Bamford – he needs to fully get to grips to Bielsa’s system.
That may take longer than a couple of training sessions, but the likelihood is that Augustin will take a place on the substitutes bench – but could make his debut as a substitute, which will delight the Elland Road crowd.
