Javier Hernandez must do more to prove David Moyes wrong

West Ham United had to fight hard to find their way into the next round of the League Cup yesterday. League One side Wimbledon put up a good fight against the Hammers, but three second-half goals gave the Hammers the 3-1 win.

The final goal for West Ham was scored by Javier Hernandez. A typical Chicharito finish, he punished the defence before rounding the keeper and slotting home.

But it does not hide the fact that he had another difficult game for West Ham.

The Hammers fans were constantly asking where Hernandez was in the opposing box, as they tried pushing for an equaliser in the second-half.

At times, he was nearly completely absent and West Ham’s supporters were right to be disappointed.

Last season it seemed as though David Moyes was ready to let Hernandez go at one point. The Mexican could not get a game for the Hammers and was being linked with a move back to his native Mexico.

West Ham fans were disappointed with Moyes’ stance on Hernandez and the hope was he might find his best form under Manuel Pellegrini.

Judging by the performance yesterday, it is easy to see why Moyes decided to use him sparingly at times last season.

Hopefully, his goal can give him the confidence to go on and find some form for West Ham under new management.
