According to Leeds Live, Leeds United are weighing up a move for Huesca full-back Javi Galan as an alternative to Stade Brest defender Romain Perraud.
The Whites remain interested in Perraud despite speculation that the Elland Road outfit were no longer pursuing a deal. Marcelo Bielsa has had the Frenchman tracked throughout the 2020/21 season as he forged a creative campaign in Ligue 1.
Perraud offered seven assists and three goals in 36 appearances, having created more than any other defender in the division. He also matched Paris Saint-Germain megastar Kylian Mbappe for assists.

But Perraud is not the only option that Leeds are assessing, as Galan is also now under consideration. The left-back is a potential alternative after his release clause was halved following Huesca’s relegation from La Liga.
That’s according to ABC Sevilla, who report his clause dropped from €8million (£7m) to €4m (£3.5m). Galan also has interest from Sevilla and three Premier League sides but is yet to decide his future.
Sevilla have approached Galan’s agent to discuss his situation after the 26-year-old played a key and versatile role at Huesca. He started 34 of his 37 La Liga appearances this season at left-back or midfield, while contributing one goal and two assists.
Leeds Live note that Galan became renowned in Spain for his intensity, pressing and tackling ability. He also stood out as an effective ball-carrier, with only Lionel Messi (159) making a higher number of successful dribbles (121) in La Liga this season, per WhoScored.
TBR’s view: Galan a solid alternative for Leeds
While Galan did not offer the same creative output as Perraud, the Huesca star would be a solid and well-rounded alternative for Leeds.
Both can push up the pitch and carry possession out from the back from the left-back position. Doing so at Elland Road would see either slot in well behind Jack Harrison as Bielsa strives to build on a top-half Premier League season.
Galan would also be a bit of a bargain at just £3.5m, which would allow Leeds’ Director of Football Victor Orta to focus more of his spending on adding depth to other key positions.
