Jason McAteer can see Mo Salah leaving Liverpool before Sadio Mane

Former Liverpool fans favourite Jason McAteer has suggested in the Racing Post that Mohamed Salah might be tempted to leave at some stage.

McAteer thinks there is more chance of the Egyptian leaving before his partner in crime Sadio Mane.

McAteer believes Mane will stay for the foreseeable future but can see a scenario where Salah will be itching for a change.

He told the Racing Post: “I can absolutely understand why Real Madrid would consider making a move for Sadio Mane in the summer – and I could understand if he was tempted.

“Real Madrid are still a glamour club and would turn heads.

“He would be harder to replace than Salah in my eyes. I actually think Sadio Mane is quite happy to stay at Liverpool although I can see Salah itching to change things up, if not next summer then the season after.”

Mane would be quite a loss for Liverpool. The ex-Southampton ace signed in 2016 and has scored 74 goals in 152 appearances.

Salah, on the other hand, has been at Anfield a year less than Mane and scored 85 goals in 132 outings.

Okay, they’re a fabulous football club on the global stage but what Mane and Salah are achieving at Liverpool is sensational.

Both are playing regularly for a manager who has a style that suits them both down to the ground.

Leaving Anfield would be bonkers considering Liverpool could be set to dominate the Premier League for years.
