Jason Cundy has told TalkSPORT that he believes AFC Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser would be a good fit at Tottenham Hotspur, after the winger was linked with a move to Premier League leaders Liverpool.
Fraser, 25, was on fire for Bournemouth during the 2018-19 campaign and it saw the Scotland international crop up on the shortlists of plenty of the Premier League’s biggest sides. Arsenal were linked with a move in the summer.
But it is now believed that Liverpool are close to signing the winger, who netted eight goals and created 15 more last season. It is believed Bournemouth will let him go for just £15million – with his contract expiring at the end of the season.
Former Tottenham and Chelsea man Cundy – who is renowned for his outbursts on TalkSPORT – has claimed that winger Fraser would be a good fit for Mauricio Pochettino’s side before discussing reported interest from Liverpool.
“It’s a no brainer,” Cundy said, when asked if Liverpool should sign Fraser. “Certainly, the price tag won’t be expensive. He can sign for four or five years and they will still have a residual value on him. It makes perfect sense for me.
“I’m not sure Arsenal or Man United need him. I can see him at Spurs; I can definitely see that fit. But when Liverpool come knocking, why would you go to Spurs?”
TBR’s view – Do Tottenham need Fraser?
Cundy has got it all wrong. Looking at Tottenham’s squad, a new winger is the last position that needs strengthening. Mauricio Pochettino signed both Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon in the summer – as well as Jack Clarke.
It means Tottenham have Lucas Moura, Son Heung-min, Erik Lamela, Lo Celso, Sessegnon and Clarke – though the latter is on loan at Leeds. Why on earth would Tottenham need Fraser in January?
