Jason Cundy has claimed that Leicester City defender Ricardo Pereira is exactly the type of player that Tottenham need.
Ricardo moved to the King Power Stadium at the beginning of last season and enjoyed an excellent first campaign in the Premier League.
The attack-minded right-back managed seven league assists last season and quickly became a favourite with Foxes supporters.
He’s now an integral part of a Leicester backline that have conceded the least amount of goals (eight) in the opening 12 league games this season and sit second in the table during the international break.
Ricardo offers so much going forward in attack with his pace and energy, while defensively he’s an extremely tough opponent one-on-one.
Ex-Spurs defender Cundy has praised the Leicester full-back and pinpointed him as someone that his former side need.
“He gets in those advances areas, he is the perfect example of what a modern day right-back is. They are not just a defender,” Cundy told talkSPORT.
“This Ricardo Pereira is one of certainly the best right-backs in the country, I think Leicester are incredibly fortunate to have him. You think about other clubs that are looking for a right-back.
“Spurs, their right-back is nowhere near as good. That’s the sort of player that Spurs should be having at right-back.”
Ricardo is definitely one of the best right-backs around right now, with perhaps only Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold the better option.
Spurs do have issues at right-back at the moment and it looks like long-term they will need to sign someone to fill the position.
Serge Aurier has proven too inconsistent during his time at the North London club, while academy graduate Kyle Walker-Peters doesn’t look good enough to fill the role.
Versatile defender Juan Foyth is perhaps the best option moving forward for now, but he’s nowhere near the best full-backs in the division right now.
