West Ham winger, Jarrod Bowen, is enjoying a fine season with the Hammers this term but he has claimed that it is his teammate, Declan Rice, who is a class above the rest.

Bowen has scored twice and set up another two so far for West Ham in PL action this season. After signing from Hull, Bowen has worked his way into being a first-team regular under David Moyes. Indeed, last season saw him hit eight goals for the Hammers.

But Bowen, speaking to The Times, has said that it is midfield powerhouse and England international, Declan Rice, who is the shining light in this current West Ham squad.

Dec’s gone on to another level. The sky’s the limit for him. You saw it in the Euros, and you’ve seen it again this season, he’s starting to score more,” Bowen told The Times.

“I see him striking the ball out on the training pitch every single day and the goal against Aston Villa was an example of that. And look at the goal against Rapid Vienna where he was at the back stick like a box-to-box midfielder, he’s added (timing of run) that to his game as well.”

Rice enhances his reputation in the Euros with England. As part of the midfield two with Kalvin Phillips, the West Ham star showed just why the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United want him.

TBR’s View: Declan Rice one of the Premier League’s best

There aren’t many modern-day midfielders who have a bit of everything in their game, but Declan Rice is one of them.

His energy and reading of the game has always been well known. But as Bowen says, Rice is now adding goals to his game and affecting the play further up the pitch.

If he continues as he is, then David Moyes is right in that £100m might not even be enough for Rice. For Bowen and West Ham, keeping hold of Rice as long as possible, is crucial.
