Hull City have reportedly made the initial step of initiating Jarrod Bowen’s one-year contract extension. As reported by TEAMtalk, the Tigers had until March to infirm Bowen of their desire to extend his current contract, which expires in the summer. The report states they have now done that, amid several teams chasing the attacker.
Bowen has been something of a wanted man this January. Leeds United and Newcastle United, in particular, have been attempting to lure the forward away from the KCOM Stadium.
According to The Sun, Leeds made an approach to sign Bowen on loan until the end of the season. The West Yorkshire side were prepared to pay an initial £3 million for the pleasure, eventually rising to £15 million if promoted.

Newcastle were also said to be keen on the player. However, as reported by the Yorkshire Post, the Magpies £12 million pursuit of the player was considered short of a £22 million asking price.
TBR’s View
There should be no surprise that both Leeds and Newcastle shared an interest in Bowen. The 23-year-old has scored 17 goals this season in 31 games for the Tigers and such form would undoubtedly help both clubs.
This move is not unexpected, but the timing is interesting, given the proximity to the end of the transfer window.
But it does look increasingly likely that Bowen will not be going anywhere, with Newcastle and Leeds potentially finished regarding incoming January business.
This new contract, however, is unlikely to put teams off and both Leeds and Newcastle will no doubt be linked again come the summertime.
