January loan exit could be Easah Suliman’s last chance to save his Aston Villa career

Easah Suliman is back at Aston Villa after having his season-long loan spell cut short.

The young Aston Villa defender was sent out on loan to FC Emmen in the summer, hoping to impress with a season in the Netherlands.

But his Dutch adventure was cut short at the end of December after Suliman managed just three outings in the Eredivisie.

FC Emmen only used Suliman as a substitute with his three cameos amassing less than 10 minutes.

Suliman has always been highly rated by Aston Villa but his progress has come to a standstill. Prior to his Emmen stint, Suliman only managed two games on loan at League Two side Grimsby Town.

As a result, the 20-year-old is running out of time to make his name at Aston Villa.

His loan spell at Emmen would not have impressed the powers that be at Aston Villa and he needs to do something special to catch Dean Smith’s eye.

This is why another loan spell would be the perfect move for Suliman at this stage of his career.

The young central defender needs to find a destination where he is going to get regular playing time and learn from the experience.

By the end of this month, the England under-20 international will turn 21 and this is a vital stage of his career.

An impressive loan spell could force him into contention next season. But considering his contract expires in the summer (transfermarkt), he might be released if he fails to impress.
