Pontus Jansson has been ruled out of Leeds United’s game with struggling Ipswich Town tonight after he picked up a suspension for his outburst following the match against Brentford.
Obviously, Marcelo Bielsa will want as many of his top stars as possible available as his side look to get back on track after a poor run of form in recent weeks.
However, Jansson’s absence may not be as big a blow as it could have been. The Swede was out of sorts somewhat at Blackburn this weekend, being dragged out of position at set pieces as Tony Mowbray’s side clinched a win.
A match out of the firing line may not be the worst thing for Jansson right now.
He has been under some pressure right now; with the off-field controversy surrounding his ban and his wife having a baby.
His form looked to have suffered slightly on Saturday and that should soften the blow of losing him for this hugely important match against Paul Hirst’s strugglers.
Bielsa’s men will expect to be on the front foot for much of the evening as it is, so Jansson’s absence could be reasonably well timed. Time will tell.
