Tottenham outcast Vincent Janssen is to be re-added to the club’s Premier League squad list, as reported by the Evening Standard.
They report that because Janssen is not expected to move to either China or Russia – where the transfer window remains open – Mauricio Pochettino is willing to reintegrate him into his plans.
But Janssen was apparently told last Friday that he will be given a second bite of the cherry by being added to the top flight squad ahead of the match against Leicester this weekend.
The Dutchman has not played for Spurs since August 2017, but Harry Kane’s injury has limited Pochettino’s striking options and Fernando Llorente has struggled for form in the interim.
Back in 2016, Janssen scored his first league goal against the Foxes – who visit Wembley on Sunday afternoon – in what was arguably the highlight of his time in north London so far.
His addition to the Premier League squad raises the possibility that he will get the chance to continue his revival against the same opponents at the weekend.
And Llorente’s struggles for goals mean that it is not too much of a stretch to imagine that he could become Tottenham’s Plan B, even once Kane returns to fitness, provided he gets his head down and works hard enough.
