Aston Villa are seemingly on the hunt for a freebie centre-back. The club look dangerously short in the position, after some odd transfer decisions by Steve Bruce.
Rumours have linked the club with Robert Huth, James Collins and with the re-signing of John Terry in recent weeks,
However, instead of signing German Huth, perhaps there is room for a countryman of his who also remains a free agent?
The player in question is Jan Kirchhoff.

The 27-year-old former Bayern Munich star is out of contract after leaving Championship rivals Bolton Wanderers in the summer.
After a successful trial, he joined Bolton in February last season, playing four times as the Trotters survived the drop in the Championship.
Capable at centre-back or at holding midfield, he could be a dream signing for Aston Villa. Fans of previous club Sunderland will testify to his brilliance. His impact in the 2015-16 season helped keep the Black Cats in the Premier League, winning a player of the month award for March 2016.
At 6ft 5ins he is an imposing character but also has an excellent touch and poise. Once tipped as a future German national team captain, Aston Villa could do a lot worse.
