Jamie Shackleton could have it tough in Leeds v Aston Villa

Leeds United travel to Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon for a Championship encounter and will be hoping to maintain their top spot in the league over the weekend.

Marcelo Bielsa’s outfit are the in-form team in the division after five consecutive league victories, but during the same time Villa are unbeaten.

The Whites can expect a difficult trip to the Midlands and it’s likely to be a huge occasion for youngster Jamie Shackleton.

Shackleton has been drafted in at right-back in the past couple of games due to an injury crisis and has performed admirably in his unflavoured position.

The 19-year-old is a product of the Leeds academy and a central midfielder by trade, but has adapted well to the first team and made his first 11 senior appearances this campaign.

He is still extremely raw at Championship level and is likely to face his toughest challenge to date at the weekend.

Full-back Shackleton is set to be in direct opposition with Villa’s Yannick Bolasie, who is one of the most skilful left-wingers in the division.

The 29-year-old is an experienced wide man with every trick in the book and express pace, something that most Championship full-backs struggle to handle.

He’s been directly involved in seven goals so far this season and there is certainly more to come from the Everton loanee.

Leeds will surely have factored in the potential Shackleton-Bolasie battle and it’s certainly a potential weakness they will have to overcome.
