Jamie Redknapp has admitted to the Daily Mail that he is worried about Tottenham Hotspur star Hugo Lloris, but insisted that it would be incredibly difficult to drop the goalkeeper.
Lloris made a terrible mistake during Saturday’s win against Southampton. The Frenchman attempted to use a piece of skill to get away from Danny Ings. However, he missed the ball and the Saints striker was able to poke the ball in for an equaliser.

Lloris would redeem himself. He made a number of outstanding saves after the error. And Harry Kane would ensure that his mistake was not costly as he scored the game’s winner before half-time.
Despite the win, Redknapp insisted that the 32-year-old is a cause for concern – even if it is highly unlikely that Pochettino will be tempted to leave him out of the team.

“They were badly let down by errors from Serge Aurier and Hugo Lloris on Saturday and Lloris in particular is a worry,” he told the Daily Mail. “In the last year the Frenchman has made a few mistakes you wouldn’t expect from him.
“But he is a World Cup winner, a fantastic goalkeeper and also the club captain, so it would be extremely difficult to think about leaving him out of the team.”
TBR’s View
Lloris will be remembered as one of the best goalkeepers of the Premier League era. As Redknapp notes, he is a World Cup winner, and has been a key man in Spurs’s rise over the last decade.
But he has arguably not been as reliable over the last year. Perhaps that is down to Lloris looking to have his position in the Tottenham team set in stone.
Paulo Gazzaniga is a good understudy, as was Michel Vorm previously. But neither player arguably has or had the quality to keep Lloris out of the side for a long period.
However, while reasons for Lloris’s occasional blips are difficult to identify, one thing that is for certain is that Lloris is not going to be thinking about trying to dance past an onrushing striker again anytime soon.
