Jamie Redknapp was left blown away by Tottenham striker Harry Kane after his latest performance, as he helped his side to a pivotal home victory against Manchester City.
Spurs earned three points on Saturday to lift themselves to the top of the Premier League table and it sets up next weekend’s fixture with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge really nicely.
Heung-Min Son opened the scoring early on at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to continue his form, while Giovani Lo Celso came off the bench in the second period to net the second.
There have been many questioning whether or not Jose Mourinho’s side can realistically be in the title mix this season after a fast start and they answered that emphatically on Saturday, albeit it’s still early days.
Redknapp singled out England captain Kane after his individual display:
“He is incredible. Not just as a footballer, his work ethic, his desire, the touches, the passes. Just a special player. When you’re trying to create something at a club and you want good people around you, you want the likes of Harry Kane,” Redknapp told Sky Sports’ Main Event channel (7:37pm, 21 November).
Despite not getting on the scoresheet himself, Kane was once again outstanding for Spurs and was a nightmare all match for Man City.
The centre-forward picked up so many clever positions on the pitch to draw centre-backs onto him, something which opened up the space for Son’s opener.
Meanwhile, the 27-year-old assisted Lo Celso’s goal with a brilliant pass for him to run onto and that now means he’s set up 11 goals this season in all competition.
Kane is the one individual standing out above the rest right now, but it was very much a team performance against Man City and the defence deserves a special mention.
